History

A skatepark this big no doubt attracts people from all over the world. Here’s a breakdown of some of the events and the people who have been here.

Grand Opening- April 2005

The grand opening of the Park, sponsored by Z99, the Department of Tourism and Bud Lite, took place Saturday, 23 April, 2005 when world’s greatest professional vert skater Tony Hawk did the honors and officially opened the skate park.

Volcom Cayman Mission- January 2007

Remy and Steve Stratton planned a trip with Rune Glifberg, Mark Appleyard, Collin Provost, Ivan Rivado, Alain Goikoetxea and Han Claessens to the skate the Black Pearl Skatepark.

Mike Valley- April 2007 “Field of Dreams” filming

Mike travels to the Cayman Islands to visit the Black Pearl skate park on the island of Grand Cayman. Mike holds a clinic at the park and explores the skate scene on the island skating a backyard mini ramp.
