Skate
Designed by renowned Skate Park designer Michael McIntyre of Site Design Group www.sitedesigngroup.com, the Black Pearl Skate Park encompasses 62,000 sq. feet of concrete bowls and half and quarter pipes. It is the second largest concrete park in the world and the largest in the southern hemisphere, featuring three main courses — expert, intermediate and beginner — with both a flow and street course for each level.
Constant supervision at all times is guaranteed, making it a secure and fun place for kids. Skateboards and mandatory protective gear are available for rent, and lessons for skateboarding are offered by dedicated skaters with 15+ experience.
An after school program is planned for resident kids, which will include bus transportation from schools in the districts. Classes will also be offered to adults who wish to learn as well. Admission to the park is permitted for children aged 6, Supervised by a parent or guardian, and without above the age of 8.
Skateboard camps are offered in the summer and winter months, with visiting pros and tons of fun activities. Discussions are underway for an annual world-class competition to be held at the Black Pearl and it is expected that the Cayman Islands’ Grand Harbor’s Skate Park will become the premier venue for international industry events.
